16x7 Garage Door Cost
Start with the published range. One garage door company's pricing guide lists a wide range of prices for standard double-car doors, from non-insulated models to high-end doors with thick polyurethane cores.[1] That company's listed installation pricing includes parts, labor, tax, old-door removal and hardware installation.

So those figures are closer to an installed price than a door-panel price.
Installation labor on its own is a separate piece. One sizing guide puts installation alone for a double door at $300 to $700.[2]
The 16x7 size is the one to expect for a two-car opening. The same guide identifies 16 x 7 feet as the standard double-car garage-door size.[2]
Phoenix-area company websites checked in October 2026 show how wide installed pricing runs locally. One lists a double insulated 16x7 installation, door only, at $2,200 to $4,500.
Treat that as one company's published range, not a quote.
Door-Only Price vs Installed Price
A door-only price covers the panels and little else. An installed price adds labor, hardware and haul-away of the old door, but only if the quote says so.
Confirm each item in writing before you compare two bids. A low number often leaves one of them out.
| Quote type | Usually covers | Ask about |
|---|---|---|
| Door-only price | Panels and little else | Labor, hardware, haul-away |
| Installed price | Labor, hardware, old-door haul-away | Opener, springs and tracks |
Opener work is the most common gap. The opener, springs and tracks may be quoted separately, and some installers will set the door without connecting it to your existing opener. Ask whether the price is for a complete operating system or only the door sections.
Also ask whether your current tracks and opener hardware are compatible with a new door. Reusing aging parts can erase the savings.
Permits are the other unknown. Ask the contractor or the City of Phoenix Planning and Development Department whether a permit is required for garage door replacement before you assume either way.

What Changes the Price of a 16x7 Door
Material and construction set most of the spread. Steel, insulated steel, wood and aluminum with glass sit at different price points, and insulation R-value pushes a steel door up the scale. Windows and decorative styles add more.

Heavier panels and reinforcement add cost
In a Phoenix garage that sees summer highs around 106°F, insulation is worth pricing even if you only plan to use the space for storage.
Wind-load pressure ratings can add cost too, since a rated door uses heavier panels and reinforcement. Our wind-rated garage door page covers when that matters.
The contractor you pick affects the total as well. Verify the license on the Arizona Registrar of Contractors lookup at roc.az.gov before signing.
Work over $1,000 requires an active ROC license. Your contract should include the terms required under A.R.S. 32-1158, including the deposit and payment schedule.
Be wary of a same-day discount that expires when the salesperson leaves.
Get at least three itemized quotes that separate the door, tracks, springs, labor, disposal, seals, tax and opener work. Once you have them side by side, the real differences are easy to see.
When you are ready to price a complete job, start with garage door installation and replacement.
